Snow sking and open air Ice skating have added a new dimension to adventure tourism in India. Right from the slopes of Auli in Uttarakhand to the snow steps of Gulmarg , the season to have a visit to these awesome places is between November to March . With an international recognized ski-slope at both places, snow sking has caught on especially among visitors to India from the West namely Europe and Canada. With the latest fad being Helisking, the mountains around Manali, around Rohtang Pass, Deo Tibba and Chandrakhani Pass has become popular for this rather expensive sport with 3 kms long runs from heights of 14000 feet and above . It is worth mentioning that a helicopter airlifts the heliskiers to the lofty heights from where they ski down the slopes.
