The State enjoys a temperate climate. It is directly influenced by the South-West Monsoon and the northeast winter wind. The four seasons of Meghalaya are: Spring - March and April, Summer (Monsoon) - May to September, Autumn -October and November and Winter - December to February.

The Monsoon usually starts by the third week of May and continues right to the end of September and sometimes well into the middle of October. Maximum rainfall occurs over the southern slopes of the Khasi Hills, i.e over the Sohra and the Mawsynram platform, which receives the heaviest rainfall in the world. The average rainfall in the State is 12,000 mm.

PACKAGE DETAILS

DAY 01: GUWAHATI

Today arrive at Guwahati airport, received and then transferred to hotel, after refreshment we can go for a sunset river cruise in The River Brahmaputra ( optional – to the guest). Evening at leisure and overnight stay will be in Guwahati.

DAY 02: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG

Today after breakfast we will visit Kamakhya temple, Umananda Temple, Navagraha temple and then drive to Shillong (130kms / 3 hrs drive), enroute stop at the scenic view point of the Umiam Lake (the largest manmade lake in Northeast India), reach Shillong and check into hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 03: SHILLONG – MAWLLYNNONG – SHILLONG

Today after breakfast we drive to Mawllynnong (110 kms / 03 hrs drive), explore the village and also trek for 10 min to visit the Single Decker Living Root Bridge in Riwai village, also visit The Dawki (Indo – Bangla Border) later go for a boat ride in Umngot River, after a daylong excursion back to Shillong and overnight stay.

DAY 04: SHILLONG

Today after a leisurely breakfast visit Shillong Peak, Don Bosco Museum, Cathedral of Mary, Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, later explore the Police Bazaar and after lunch drive back to hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 05: SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE

Today after breakfast we set to explore Shillong and Cherrapunjee (56 kms / 02 hrs drive), we will visit the Elephant falls, and the drive further to Cherrapunjee, in Cherrapunjee we visit Mawdok Valley View Point, The Nohkalikai Falls (the fourth highest falls in the world), Mawsmai Cave, Dainthlen Falls and Krem Falls. After exploring for the day check into accommodation in Cherrapunjee and overnight stay.

DAY 06: CHERRAPUNJEE – GUWAHATI

Today we can visit Thankarang park and Arwah Cave and then proceed to Guwahati (05 ½ hrs drive), reach Guwahati and check into hotel, later in evening go to Srimanta Sankardeva Kalekshetra. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

DAY 07: SHILLONG – GUWAHATI – FLY

Today drive to Guwahati airport for onward destination.
